A Private Cotswolds Property Brand

Respecting the past,
improving for the future.

Mae Cotswolds was created to support the restoration, improvement and long-term management of selected properties across the Cotswolds.

Our focus is simple: take character properties with history, protect what makes them special, and carefully improve them for modern use.

From period cottages and village homes to boutique accommodation spaces, we believe the best properties are maintained, restored and respected over time.

A good Cotswolds home does not need to shout. The stone, the beams, the fireplaces and the setting usually do the talking. Our role is to bring those features back to life properly.

The Founder

Founded by Shamil Mae.

Mae Cotswolds was created with a simple aim: to restore, improve and manage character properties with care. Founded by Shamil Mae, the brand brings together practical property experience, accommodation management and a long-term view of property ownership.

The focus is not on rushing projects or stripping homes of their original charm, but on improving them properly so they remain useful, beautiful and well cared for. With experience across short-let accommodation, property operations and guest-ready homes, Shamil takes a hands-on approach to every detail — from presentation and maintenance through to comfort, usability and long-term value.

The Cotswolds has a character that should be respected. Mae Cotswolds exists to support that character, not replace it.

What We Do

Property development with a heritage-led approach.

Mae Cotswolds works across a focused range of property activities, including restoration, refurbishment, accommodation preparation and long-term asset management. Our work is centred around quality, character and sensible improvement rather than short-term trends.

Heritage Restoration

Preserving original details, traditional materials and period character wherever possible.

Property Improvement

Upgrading interiors, layouts, bathrooms, heating, presentation and general usability.

Boutique Accommodation

Preparing selected properties for short stays, countryside breaks and longer guest use.

Asset Management

Maintaining property standards, presentation and long-term value.

Heritage Restoration

Respecting the past, improving for the future.

The Cotswolds has a property style that cannot be faked. Traditional stone cottages, market town homes and countryside properties carry a sense of place that deserves proper care.

Mae Cotswolds takes a traditional approach to restoration. The aim is to retain original features wherever possible, while upgrading the parts of a property that need to work for modern life.

That may include improved interiors, better heating, updated bathrooms, safer access, smarter layouts, stronger guest presentation and careful maintenance planning.

The goal is never to strip a property of its soul. The goal is to make it work beautifully again.

Property Development & Improvement

Thoughtful property improvement.

Not every property needs heavy development. Sometimes the smartest work is the most considered work. A tired cottage may need new interiors, fresh joinery, better lighting, cleaner styling, repaired windows, improved bathrooms or a more practical guest layout.

Mae Cotswolds focuses on improvements that make sense for the property, the location and the long-term use of the home. We value proper materials, classic finishes, warm interiors and practical upgrades. Trends come and go. Good property fundamentals last.

Our Approach

A measured process, from sourcing to stewardship.

  1. 01

    Acquire

Selective sourcing of character properties suited to the area.

  2. 02

    Survey

Careful assessment of structure, heritage features and long-term potential.

  3. 03

    Restore

Traditional materials, original details retained, sympathetic repair.

  4. 04

    Furnish

Considered interiors, classic finishes, guest-ready presentation.

  5. 05

    Maintain

Ongoing care, seasonal upkeep and long-term asset management.

Accommodation & Asset Management

Cotswolds accommodation & guest-ready homes.

Alongside restoration and improvement, Mae Cotswolds supports the operation of selected accommodation assets. This includes preparing properties for short stays, countryside breaks, family visits, professional stays and longer-term guest use.

Our approach combines property presentation, practical maintenance and guest-focused thinking. A beautiful cottage still needs to function properly. Guests notice everything — the heating, the beds, the lighting, the coffee machine, the check-in process and, yes, sometimes even the bin situation.

The small details matter because they shape the whole stay.

The Location

Rooted in the Cotswolds.

The Cotswolds is one of the UK’s most distinctive property regions, known for honey-stone buildings, historic villages, market towns, countryside views and strong visitor demand.

Mae Cotswolds has a particular focus on traditional homes in and around Moreton-in-Marsh and the wider Cotswolds. Our aim is to support properties that suit the area, respect the local character and offer strong long-term potential.

A Note from the Founder
“We don’t rush, and we don’t pretend. We restore what’s worth keeping, improve what needs to work, and look after it properly.”
